Fluid Model of an Internet Router under the Mimd Control Scheme

چکیده
We study the interaction between an MIMD (Multiplicative Increase Multiplicative Decrease) congestion control algorithm and a Drop Tail buffer. We consider the problem in the framework of deterministic hybrid models. We first show that the hybrid model of the interaction between the MIMD congestion control and bottleneck router always converges to a cyclic behavior that can be of only two different types. Second, we characterize the minimum buffer size required such that the bottleneck link is fully utilized. In particular, our analysis indicates that an MIMD algorithm requires smaller buffer sizes than AIMD in order to fully utilize the link capacity.

Interference Effect of UDP Mixed with TCP-RED
Multimedia applications are gaining momentum as the principal service on the Internet. Because most of multimedia service use the UDP protocol to carry the traffic over the Internet, it is very important therefore to explore the interaction between UDP and TCP protocol in the routers. In this paper, we apply the matrix-analytic approach to explore the interactive behavior between UDP and TCP pr...
متن کاملConvergence of trajectories and optimal buffer sizing for MIMD congestion control
We study the interaction between the MIMD (Multiplicative Increase Multiplicative Decrease) congestion control and a bottleneck router with Drop Tail buffer. We consider the problem in the framework of deterministic hybrid models. We study conditions under which the system trajectories converge to limiting cycles with a single jump. Following that, we consider the problem of the optimal buffer ...
متن کاملOptimal Utility-based Internal Congestion Control in a Cluster-based Router
Optimal utility-based congestion control is an optimization approach to congestion control problems where the objective is to maximize the aggregate source utility over their transmission rates. It has been used to analyze Internet congestion control schemes. In this paper, we develop a discrete congestion control scheme to manage congestion internal to a cluster-based router. We simulate our p...
متن کاملModel Predictive Control of Distributed Energy Resources with Predictive Set-Points for Grid-Connected Operation
This paper proposes an MPC - based (model predictive control) scheme to control active and reactive powers of DERs (distributed energy resources) in a grid - connected mode (either through a bus with its associated loads as a PCC (point of common coupling) or an MG (micro - grid)). DER may be a DG (distributed generation) or an ESS (energy storage system). In the proposed scheme, the set - poin...
متن کاملModeling and Availability Analysis of Internet Data Center with various Maintenance Policies
In this paper, the authors have focused on the stochastic analysis of an internet data center (IDC), which consists of a database main server connected to a redundant server. Observing the different possibilities of functioning of the system, analysis has been done to evaluate the various reliability characteristics of the system. The system can completely fail due to failure of redundant serve...
